Preparations required before participating in Global Career EXPO

Check the event pages of the "Global Career" to obtain EXPO-holding information as early as possible around March to April and September to October !

Global Career EXPO is held in summer (June) and winter (December) every year.
As the event pages will be opened to the public around 4 months before the dates for exhibition, please be sure to check them as early as possible. Members of Global Career will also be notifiedby e-mail magazine.

We also advise those living/studying in Japan not to forget to get airplane tickets and make an arrangement for the hotel.

Make a reservation for participating in Global Career EXPO!

Make a 'reservation for participating' in Global Career EXPO as early as possible. By making a reservation for participation, you can print your "Entrance Pass" and "Name Tag".
※To make a reservation, go to My Page>Activity History>Event.

By printing Entrance Pass and Name Tag beforehand, you can enter the site on the day of the event very smoothly. We recommend that you visit the site after making a reservation in order to make efficient use of limited time.

※Before making a reservation for participation, you need to be registered as a member of Global Career.

Check and apply to participating companies!

"A list of participating companies" will be posted on the event page 2 to 3 months before the EXPO is held.
As the list of participating companies will be updated every day, be sure to check it as frequently as possible.

Additionally, be sure to also check the companies displaying their own detailed information screens.
Quite a few companies start selecting members even before participating in the EXPO.
Make a registration in the companies you're interested in even if only slightly in order to obtain detailed selection information later on.

In order to join the presentation booth efficiently within the limited time on the very day of the EXPO, it will be convenient to make a list of companies you intend to visit immediately before the EXPO.

Making resume

Some of the companies participating in the EXPO accept resumes before the EXPO.
It is one of the features of Global Career EXPO to carry out speedy selection process by conducting applicant screening beforehand and quick interviews on the very day of the EXPO.
※As some foreign-owned companies may require you to submit an English resume, would-be applicants may as well prepare one.

In addition, even if you haven't submitted a resume beforehand, you may have a lot of opportunities (walk-ins) for submitting a resume at the site on the very day of the EXPO.

Be sure to visit the site with multiple sheets of your resume and photos for curriculum vitae in preparation for walk-ins.

Useful tools for creating a resume

Make a reservation for participating in company lectures!

At the site of Global Career EXPO,

  • Companies' lectures
  • Lectures on job hunting by Global Career supporters

will be given.

As would-be applicants will be invited for making reservations for attending company lectures, visit the site after making reservations for company lectures you are interested in.
Since a lot of information will be given by companies only at Global Career EXPO, be sure to check lecture schedules as frequently as possible!

Popular companies may often have all the lecture seats booked soon after the start of accepting applications for reservation, but never fail to check the event page to find cancelled seats.

What you should do on the very day of participating in Global Career EXPO

List of belongings for the day 【Give a final check before departure!】

  • Entrance Pass
  • Name Tag
  • Writing implement
  • Resume (multiple sheets for walk-ins)
  • Photos for curriculum vitae etc.

The EXPO is a gathering of companies from various fields. Therefore, we recommend that you carry as many resume sheets as possible when you visit presentation booths to collect information not to lose newly found opportunities for making applications to companies.

Check the places of each area/corner of the EXPO site!

An official guide book will be distributed in exchange for an Entrance Pass to those entering the EXPO site.
As the official guide book has a description of the on-site map, check the place of each presentation booth and corner.
※Copiers will also be available at the site.

Visit presentation booths!

Each company gives presentations in the presentation booth area.
Some companies post their time schedule in front of the booth, and you'll be able to visit the booth in an efficient manner if you check the presentation time in advance.

You will, of course, visit the booths of companies you admire or you're interested in.
However, it often happens that the company you visit by chance turn out to be very attractive!
We advise you to actively visit the booths of companies/industries you have never heard of.

Manners when visiting presentation booths

  • Greetings given at the time of visiting and leaving each booth
  • Read through materials before the start of lectures.
  • Take a forward seat as far as possible.
  • Take notes.
  • It is out of the question to cross your legs or fold your arms!
  • Give your name first when asking a question.

Don't forget your manners also when speaking with company staff members at the presentation booth.

Collect information by actively asking questions when there's time for it!

The briefing sessions at the presentation booth is a good opportunity for collecting firsthand information not published via the internet or not described in pamphlets.

Question Examples
  • Difference from other companies in the same industry
  • Next challenges facing the companies
  • Future development of business projects
  • Types of employees playing an active part
  • A sense of satisfaction obtained from personal tasks etc.

Submit your resume and make applications!

Some companies with which you haven't made a reservation for an interview beforehand may often allow you to proceed to the process of selection on the day of the EXPO after the lecture at the presentation booth.

In quite a few cases of Global Career EXPO at the Tokyo Site held in two days, in particular, you will be asked to submit your resume at the presentation booth on the first day, and get an interview on the second day. (It is advisable that you adjust your schedule in order to participate in the EXPO for two days so that you won't miss the chance!)

It is another feature of Global Career EXPO that the participating companies make selection more quickly than in the domestic cases of similar events.
Not a few companies may set a schedule for an interview at a later but early date when you can't get an interview on the day of the EXPO.
The EXPO provides a good place for efficient job hunting for those university students who want to hunt jobs during a temporary return to Japan.
Don't hesitate to let your period of stay known to companies to seize the opportunity for being selected.

When you get an opportunity for an interview・・・?!

The points the interviewers look at
  • Does the interviewee answer questions clearly/understand the intention?
  • Does the interviewee have a bright facial expression?
  • Is the talk of the interviewee brief and understandable?
  • Does the interviewee understand the "industry", "firm" and "work"?
  • Does the interviewee have a "reason for application"? (Does the interviewee clarify the reason why he/she "wants to work"?)
  • Is the interviewee "cultured" and "good-mannered" as a member of society?
  • etc.

You may often find the result on the spot at the Global Career EXPO.
Moreover, in some cases the interviewee may be allowed to proceed to the second and the final selection stages on the same day.
The result of success or failure in the selection stage etc. will be displayed on the "message board" or in front of the presentation booth at the EXPO site.
So please do not forget to check them!
